I've been asked continuously over the past few months to write blog posts but this has proven a hard task given a lot of what I am responsible for is confidential! Thankfully, I have found a topic I can talk about, though one I don't necessarily enjoy - staff departures.
The Informatics Centre employs students & graduates to offer them work experience in a software development team with the aim to enhance their employment opportunities. Three of these students left us this month - Arran Collier, Matthew Elloy and Richard Mawhinney.
All three of these students have been fantastic assets to us and whilst it's a loss to us, it's also of great pleasure to know that the experience we've offered them has helped Arran and Matt secure permanent jobs at HP and Rich his place on a PGCE course.
We had a small party to celebrate their success and to say thank you for their time with us. In September we'll be looking for 4 enthusiastic students to take their places and we hope to continue our success by enhancing their employability too.
